| How far in advance should I order my wedding dress? Depending on the manufacturer, the average time to construct the dress is 10-14 weeks. You want to allow plenty of time for any alterations once it arrives. We suggest ordering six months or more in advance if at all possible. If you don't have that long, we will do everything we can to work with you. Most of the manufacturers carry some hanging stock on their most popular styles in order to accommodate those brides needing a dress on short notice. Remember, ordering early will ensure that the style you love will not be discontinued. We also carry a large inventory - with over 350 gowns presently in stock - many of which are discounted 30% or more - which you may purchase "off the rack". When should my bridesmaid dresses be ordered? We suggest 4-6 months ahead for the same reasons as above. Some manufacturers offer EXPRESS SERVICE or immediate delivery on select styles. All bridesmaid dresses should be ordered at the same time in order to insure all will be cut from the same dye lot. How do I select the gown style that is best for me? Start by trying on several different styles. Try different neckline, sleeve, and skirt designs to determine the most flattering. Then concentrate on the fabric, the fullness, the color and the beadwork. Our bridal consultants are trained to help you make the best selection. How do I select a headpiece? We have a large selection in stock for you to try on once you have selected your dress. We offer custom tailoring to the length of the veil, style and size of pouf, addition of blushers, as well as custom-made headpieces. Again, our consultants will help as you take into consideration your hair style and design of your dress. What about alterations? How much to expect them to cost? We have expert seamstresses who will come to the shop for fittings and consultations. Each works independent of the shop and sets her own rates according to a rate schedule established by S.G. Bridal. Because of this, charges are kept to a minimum. You will be quoted a price at your first fitting. What hints do you have for selecting attendants' dresses? S.G. Bridal has a large number of sample dresses. You should have in mind the figures of your girls before you shop. Most bridal parties include a wide variety of sizes and shapes so you need to choose something as flattering as possible on everyone. Fabric, color and style should complement your wedding gown. Don't bring the entire bridal party with you. Instead, bring your maid of honor or someone whose judgement you trust. Consider the budget and ages of your bridesmaids. Try to accomodate your attendants as much as possible but if the dress isn't liked by everyone, don't feel guilty. It is your wedding. How can I save money at S.G. Bridal? You can save a minimum of 30% on many of the gowns in stock. We purchase some limited edition gowns from the manufacturers at a discount which we pass on to the customer. These are first quality gowns. The rest of our inventory of over 350 gowns are styles currently in the catalogues that can be ordered (or purchased from the rack) at our everyday low prices. A "Sale Rack" is also available with dresses marked down, as much as 75%. We will work with you within your budget. We shop very carefully for quality, selection, and price and can save you money on everything from invitations to tuxedo rentals. | |
